I have a block being used as a callout in plans, and representing the title of its specific detail.

Using fields, I have created a single place to change all of the parts of these callouts as I see fit and the changes take place after I regen... but not if it's in a viewport.

Am I overlooking something? I can go in to the Attributes window for the block and right-click the field in the values column and tell it to update, and it does... but this seems like the most minor upgrade from manually updating the callout blocks.

Are your blocks actually in the viewport (modelspace), or laying on top of it in paperspace? Not sure that would make a difference but could be.

To update Fields you need to regen in Model or quickly click into the viewport and regen......... simples :D

I guess that's the real problem, in model space or inside a viewport it won't regen with a simple regenall command. I end up having to go to the block attributes and telling the field to update.

Those settings were set the same for me, so that didn't seem to help.

I think I fixed it though -- for some reason, the "path" I guess you could call it for the field is different for the ones in modelspace in paperspace. Or rather, one field path works for only the paperspace parts of a sheet set, and the other one works for both.

Thanks for helping me fiddle with this, Dana.

Well, for some reason that seems to make sense as the possible reason.

I have only used attributed blocks without fields in them, in paperspace up until now, so my head isn't wrapped around the issue very well yet.

Good luck with your drawing.
