**invalid** function cancelled

i dont know how to solve this and its driving me nuts

I have one computer here at work that no block insertion lisps are working on.

Every time i go to insert a block on this machine we get the error message **invalid** function cancelled.

Also when you simy just use the autocad command insert, we are getting 'block insertion failed'

Now this is in acad 2008 and this only happens on this one pc

None of the blocks have been created within acad 2009.

I just dont know why we are getting this message.

I don't think this is a problem with lisp - so im abusing the forum because i trust you guys know a lot about acad and hae helped me out a lot before.

any help or solution to this one???

If you type -insert at the command line and enter the name of the block does it too fail? Note the presence of the (-) before the command name.

it isn't working for all 3 ways of inserting

these are the functions and the error messages i get when using them.

Lisp - *invalid* ;error function cancelled

insert - (Alert message) 'Block Insertion Failed'

-insert - *Invalid*

I'm all most going to resort to uninstalling the acad on that pc and reinstalling.

Any more ideas why we are getting those error messages on this one pc??

Is there some variable that doesnt allow block insertion??

Have you tried .insert? Maybe there's an app loaded that undefines the Insert command.

yes i also tried that - i still get the "block insertion failed"

I just installed the last licence of acad 2009 on his pc to solve the problem.

2009 works fine but there is something wrong with the 2008 installation on his pc because the insert command isn't working

anyways thank you guys for your suggestions

The only other solution that comes to mind is to insert the installation CD and run the Repair option.

Trouble using the Insert command? Maybe this is applicable:

I have tried several different times to follow a very promising link like this one only to have the folks at Autodesk think I must be some sort of idiot for expecting there to be some content at these addresses.

I contacted the help desk and we chatted some. They were very sure that links such as these were never part of their knowledge base.

Since Autodesk takes that position, it would be of great help when posting Autodesk links that you include the title of the article and/or some significant keywords so that we might still be able to find it when the link fails to (with any luck).8)

You run that risk in any situation where a link is posted three years prior, but including the title is still a good idea.
