The attached file is a complex 3D shape.

Could anyone please validate that the 'total volume'

attached as text, is correct. And if possible also qualify a conversion for me that moves the decimal place giving me a sq.mm answer?

Also can any one please give me advice as to how I modify options so that when I do query a volume and also region that the answers are provided in Sq. mm.

Many thanks in advance.

I can confirm that the volume is:

56453.97219173514

Surely you mean Cubic mm?

As for conversion, think about it like this:

1m^3 = 100x100x100cm = 1,000,000cm^3

1cm^3 = 10x10x10mm = 1,000mm^3

Hence

1m^3 = 1000x1000x1000mm = 1,000,000,000mm^3

What was I retrieving JD?

I assumed you were retrieving in^3.

If the modeling units were mm then your answere is the same as I get (more or less).

JimB - how big is this thing (110 inches or 110mm in diameter)?

I retrieved the Volume using the COM Volume property of the object, and converted it to a 15dp string. But with my lack of ACAD knowledge I didn't know how to determine the drawing units :( how embarassing.

Well, technically AutoCAD is unitless. That is why I had trouble. I was checking in another CAD program that is units aware. But I hadn't set the import units. I ended up importing as both 1 magnitude = 1 inch and 1 magnitude = 1mm and doing dimensioned drawings of each. The metric magnitudes made more sense to me.

Thankyou very much for your reply.

I'm most greatful for the response

JD I notice your 'properties' screen capture is different from what I would recognise in Autocad, where in AutoCad can I access similar properties?

Also when you mention the ability to manipulate 'input units' is this variable available in Autocad also? And if so where?

You must have missed this part of my reponse.
