Hi!

I am using AutoCAD 2010 LT. I got a project where in model viewport drawing is rotated for 63° (roll angle=63). When I create layout, roll angle is 0 and I cant change it. I want same rotation of viewport for layout. How do I change it?

MVSETUP and DVIEW are not included in LT versions. And rotating an UCS about the Z axis is not good, because coordinates of objects must remain the same (drawing has "geographic" coordinates).

Thanks!

I can't speak to the viewport rotation ability (or lack of) in AutoCAD LT, but our drawings are in SP coordinates also, and we rotate the UCS about the Z axis all of the time. As long as you are aware of the UCS and WCS, there shouldn't be any problem.

See if LT has the VPROTATEASSOC system variable. If it does, set it to 1.

rkmcswain is right, but in case you don't want to rotate the view in modelspace and keep it to WORLD,

I believe it can be done by rotating the Z axis in the viewport, the model coordinates and view will not change. Try this:

  1. Go To your layout and click inside the viewport you want the view to be rotated
  2. Type UCS, choose -Z-"your rotation angle", hit ENTER
  3. Type PLAN, - set to Current UCS

your drawing should have rotated in the viewport, and if you look a the model it should still be in the same coordinates and WORLD ucs as before.

...and then rotate the viewport like you would any other autocad object to the desired angle, the view of the model will rotate as well.

...OR, you could also rotate about the Z axis, then switch back to WCS, just make sure UCSFOLLOW = 0 so that the view will not change back.

And then you have a rotated view, but still in WCS.
