Hey all.

I have a friend who is a Landscape Architect. In the past I have done some 2d renderings of his plans with Photoshop. Here is one I did a couple years ago:

This one was a hand drawn plan but now he mostly uses Autocad.

I cannot do these for him anymore and he wants to learn how do to it, either with Photoshop or Autocad. I made him a tutorial for Photoshop but I have never done any of this type of rendering in Autocad.

Are there any good Autocad 2d Rendering (coloring) tutorials I can point him to?

Thanks.

2D color rendering tutorials for Autocad? Can't say that I've ever seen any.

There are loads of Photoshop tutorials all over the place though, and that's what I use for color rendering's. I can't think of any that are specific for producing landscape plans, but once you learn how to use the tools, the rest is just up to your own creativity. And that is something you just can't teach.

Yeah, I agree. Like I said I made a Photoshop tutorial for him and last I heard he is actually trying to follow it.

Now years ago I looked into a plugin called LandFX but it was a bit too pricy for what he needed.

Yeah, I played around with the demo of LandFX about a year ago. It seems like a pretty cool program, but it's definitely way too expensive if all you want to do is create color graphics.

Photoshop or Painter would be my first two choices.

There's also a program called SketchBook Pro. I've played around with the trial version and it does have some nice features. Pretty inexpensive too, and easy to learn.

And then of course there's always Gimp, which is free.

But if he decides he doesn't want to do the graphics himself, and you don't have time, you could always point him in my direction. I'm always looking for freelance work. o:)
