Hi!

I'm not sure if this should be in the beginners' area, but I consider myself a beginner so...

Because I have to teach a class about geological maps, I would like to make some maps myself and show some features.

As for my first question: I have drawn some contourlines and placed them at their elevation, but can somebody tell me how to make a surface from these contourlines? Probably I need to 'tell' my computer that these lines are contour lines but how can I do that?

I am using AutoCAD map 3d 2011 (educational version).

Use Drape, then a solid will be made out of your contour lines!

sorry, can you explain a little bit more?

Ok, ignore my previous questions, I finally found it.

Now for my next question:

I have created some simple 'geological layers' which I want to cut off using a surface. So everything above the surface has to go. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

(I will try to add the .dwg)

Ok.

.dwg was too big, posted pdf instead

I hope everyone understands what I want to accomplish!

Ok, I found the SLICE command, but for some reason it won't recognize my surface as a surface. Any help?

the surface I created is a TIN surface

Hi Nuttiek,

I begin to understand what you're trying to do!

Something like this?

drape.jpg

You have to convert the drape to a solid and then use the command Boolean --> Intersect, it will leave the parts which intersect!

command: _AecMassElementIntersect

Oh, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear with my questions!

It's not really a drape, it's a TIN surface, but can I convert it to a drape? Because I can not convert the surface to a surface or solid.

I'm really stuck :(

Oh, before I couldn't see your picture.

I managed to find a solution for my problem, but now I created another problem. Now I want to draw some contour lines on the surface, so I'm stuck again... google-ing...
