hello guys,

 

i'm new here..i need help on civil 3d..i have imported the survey data to AC3d, and my task is to create the surface/contour/alignment/ and cutting the cross section (at the river-section only) ..but after few weeks trying, and referring to the manual, I still cant figure out how to do it..can anyone at least give me a few tips on this matter?

 

i want to create something similar to the figure on the right side..

Have you tried the Tutorials that come with Civil 3D (Help > Tutorials > Autocad Civil 3D Tutorials)? Or do a search on Youtube, there's lots of Civil 3D tutorials there.

By "survey data" do you mean points? if so, the points are in a point group called All by default. Create a new surface, then under definition within that surface, right click on point groups, and "add" the point group to the definition of the surface. Then you need to make sure the style is one that shows the contours. This can be done by editing the style in the surface properties and making sure the major and minor contours are turned on in the display tab. Hope this helps.

...and because that is a winding strip of points, you will want to create a boundary for your data set, and add this boundary to your surface to keep the triangulation from creating really long triangles across areas of no data.
