gwynnb Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Hi, I'm trying to draw a multi-solid part of a concrete block encasing a pipe. The pipe has a complicated shape, and I began by modeling that, as I will need a solid version of it for another part of the project. Now to the problem, as I extrude the concrete block, I need it to stop both where it meets the pipe and at a set distance where the pipe doesn't interfere with it's path. The "To Next" option doesn't work for the same no-interference reason. Using the "To" option only allows for one selection, the pipe, or a plane , but ultimately I'd need both. I've done a fair bit of searching online and have come up empty handed. Theoretically I could redo all the lofts/extrusions as cuts through a block, but that seems painful. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Quote
gwynnb Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Example.zip The attached is an example of the same issue, but the original was too big to attach. Essentially I want Solid 1 to cut into Solid 2 and for Solid 1 to stop at a set elevation. Thanks Quote

To cut one part from another you can use the Combine tool with cut option (and checkmark to preserve original). To extrude to an object the terminating object must, of course, completely terminate the extrusion. Sounds like you might what surface body to terminate the extrusion. You can make file size much much smaller by first pulling the red End of Part marker to the top of the browser, hiding all features, then save, then zip. Maybe your real parts would be better for answering the second part of your question. Quote
gwynnb Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 yup, that's exactly what I wanted to acheive. The elevation would just be the amount I extrude the original block. Thanks! Quote
