awoehl Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 We just got new aerial photos of our county they are sid files to keep them smaller in size but i cant figure out how to import them to the correct coordinates. Our previous photos are tiff photos and are black and white the new ones are in color so when you convert them to tiff they are huge. Any ideas of how to help would be much appreciative! Quote
fuccaro Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 There are a lot of programs that can convert color images to black and white. Irfanview is one of them, and it is for free. Also it can batch process the files. Not sure if this completely solves your problem, but maybe it helps a little. Quote

Use the ._MapiInsert command. If you have Raster Design, there are tools in there also. You will need at least the Raster Design OE in order to insert and/or view .SID images. Quote

Krztoff Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I am not sure weather the problem was with inserting images in the correct coordinates or simply with changing their color, if it's the first then in Civil 3d 2011 it works like this (I think in Civil 3d 2010 it might be the same) First go to autodesk site and download the "AutoCAD Raster Design 2010 Object Enabler" this will expand the list of file types that you can import. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13023431&linkID=9240698 Install it, and then start up your Civil, once everything is loaded, change your workspace to "TASK-BASED GEOSPATIAL" it is that little button on the bottom right corner of the screen with the GEAR symbol on it, after that go to the INSERT tab, and press on the image icon, there should be a MRsid option as well now, insert your .sid images. Hope this helps. Quote
chulse Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) Did the sid files come with a world file? It should be a .sdw file of the same name I think... That should tell the sid where in the world it belongs. Also, you may need to assign a coordinate system to the cad file first (_ADESETCRDSYS). Edited July 26, 2010 by chulse Quote
