HEY PEEPS,

Ive come to this website for a little help. Ive tried looking on the internet for a solution for this but got no where.

I have autocad 2007 Lt

So my problem is:

I have a general layout of a building and im wanting to rotate the view so im looking on a side view. BUT i dont want to rotate the actual building i just want 2

look at is from the side. (im wanting to draw a elevation of this building).

And what view are you looking at it now? Top (plan), Front (elevation)? Is the bldg modeled 3D?

Try View > Named Views...

Rotate the building, drop down your construction lines, create your elevation then rotate the building back. Afraid you'll mess something up? Then do a "Save As" first and save the drawing with a new name and use that to create the elevation. When done copy/paste the elevation into the original drawing.

View > Named Views > Preset Views > Left, Right, Front or Back > Set Current

All you'll probably see is a horizontal line(s)

If it is a 2D drawing then what miracle view are you expecting to see? Try seeing the side of a sheet of paper to understand what the above post is saying.

Could it be that you are currently looking at a plan view (top) of a 3D drawing?

ryt ill try and explain it

say your in a football stadium and ur watching the game in the northstand.

then u move to the east stand.

your still looking at the game but from a different (side view).

you will need to create a UCS, user coordinate system...then use the plan command to switch the view...

to create the USC it's probably simple to draw a line that represents the x-axis that you want the new view roated on...the direction of the line will also determine which way the y-axis will flow...for example if you draw a vertical line from top to bottom the new UCS will have the y-axis point towards the left so that the view will rotate 90 degrees counter clockwise...bottom to top will roate the view 90 degrees clokwise...

once you create the line, type UCS then followed by OB (for object)...once done you will notice that the UCS icon will rotate...now you can type in plan and just enter a few times and the drawing will "roate" to the current UCS...

once that's done you may want to name this UCS, such as left, by typing UCS>s (for save-it does not appear as an option tho)> name so you can recall this at any time...

another method is to start a new drawing and xref the plan drawing and then copy/rotate the plan(s) as required to suit all your elevation sides...

I am not sure LT lets you do this but here goes. Type the command and options at the command line.

VIEW, SAVE, PLAN.

UCS, Z, 90. PLAN, C. VIEW, SAVE, EAST. (obviously use whatever name makes sense to you.)

UCS, Z, 90. PLAN, C. VIEW, SAVE, SOUTH.

You get the idea.

Im pretty sure DVIEW does not work in LT versions but only full versions.

Why post something like that if you don't know for sure? After a quick search I was able to verify that it was removed as of the 2007 version.

I did know hence why i posted it, maybe i shouldnt have used the word "pretty" but thats the way i speak

but then again maybe you should have checked it actually worked before posting about the DVIEW option which you have now confirmed does not work
