CADken Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Like the subject says, can I get AutoCAD on a MAC? What are my options? In a nutshell my current laptop (Toshiba Satellite A135, Windows 7 32-bit, 2gb RAM) has taken a dive for the 5th time in 3.5 yrs. and my boss has suggested I "shop around". In the meantime I've been given a MAC Powerbook to complete my regular office duties (email, some graphic arts projects, etc.), I'm pleased with the MAC as far as graphic arts is concenred - but can it handle AutoCAD? Just trying to get some ideas. Quote
monk Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Autocad doesnt support MAC but you can install vm fusion which is a virtual machin then install windows within that and run CAD It will be slow if your processor doesnt supoprt hardware virtualisation. Quote

So far this is what I'm finding - I'm not looking to have to go through leaps and bounds to run AutoCAD, so I'm going to press them for a PC... Quote
David Bethel Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Maybe its heading back after a long hiatus. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/05/22/audocad_appears_headed_back_to_the_mac.html It would be a nice addition. Quote
dude Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 It is coming back in October of this year. I currently run LT on my Mac in Fusion and it works great. No leaps and bounds to get anything working. When October comes, I am upgrading to the Mac version because i want to ditch windows. Quote
