Is it possible to do screen shots in Inventor 2011?

I have some parts drawn up to be lathed and milled by a buddy but I thought it would be easier to do a screen shot, print it and give him the different angles seeing that he does not have access to open the files. Is there a way to do this and if someone could help it would be much appreciated.

Thank you:D

Create your drawing files, (idw or dwg) dimension and export as .pdf.

I knew it was going to be something easy man. Thank you for the quick response, I truly appreciate this. It will make it easier for the editor over at mini truckn magazine. :D

Or just hit 'Print'...

If you still wish to, you can produce a screen shot just by going to the big italic "I" at top left corner of the screen, selecting "export, "then select "image." Now choose what format you want, e.g. bmp, jpg, png, the pixel count and file name and press save. Job done.

Remember that the image will not be as good as it would be using Inventor Studio, but if you go to the "view" command, Inventor 2011 has enhanced lighting and image facilities that are not available on previous versions of the software. You can get a more than reasonble image.

Attached is a quickly produced image using this method. The bottom image is a Studio rendering. I have spent no time at all adjusting lighting for either view. Whereas I could improve the Studio rendering, I cannot do much more with the screen grab.

Regards.

..... give him the different angles seeing that he does not have access to open the files.

I show my students how to do process sheets using the Engineer's Notebook in Inventor, but I think there might be an even better way for you -

1. Free Inventor Viewer will view native Inventor files and allow to zoom, rotate....

2. Free Design Review will allow to view dwf files saved from Inventor and will allow zoom, rotate, turn part visibility in assemblies on/off, measure, animations....
