Goomba Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I am currently using AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and I am not sure how or why but when placing a dimension I can no longer snap to an arrow point of another dimension, ie to align them. I need to place the dimension and then highlight the dimension I am trying to snap to and then it will allow me to snap to the little blue squares. This is not a bug in a drawing but happens to every drawing I open so it must be a setting somewhere I have accidently clicked? Anyone know, the probably obvious, fix to my problem? Cheers Quote
Cat Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Use the dim continue option after your initial dimension. It automatically aligns the dimension with the previous one and will stay in effect until you terminate the command. Quote
Goomba Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 That works but... What about when I am aligning dimensions which are not right next to each other or have a common point? Must be something I have clicked somewhere? Quote
nukecad Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 You should be able to snap to the existing dimension line as well as the endpoints of the arrows to line up dimensions. Sounds like you have turned off or changed your object snap settings. Take a look at OSNAP in your Autocad help. Quote
Goomba Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Hmmm.. I have tried turning all osnap settings off and on and off and on again but no luck. I just had an old drawing open and thought I would have a look, and guess what it works in the old drawing. I am thinking its one of those commands which you change from 0 to 1, in addition to something else, which has triggered this? Quote
Cat Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Take a look at your Autosnap settings under OPTIONS>DRAFTING. Quote
rkent Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 AMPOWERSNAP, lower left corner button "Filter options...", check of uncheck, depending on what you are wanting. This is also found at Options, AMPreferences, Snap Defaults, (lower left) Filter options,.... Quote

nukecad Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Sorry Goomba, I hadnt noticed that you were using Inventor. I believe AMPPOWERSNAP is a command in some of the vertical products; not in vanilla Autocad which is probably why we missed it. Quote
