GE13579 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Is there any difference between a mechanical file and a vanilla file? More accurately, has there ever been? If not it looks like padding, make you think you are getting something special. There are some differences- I don't know what, but if I save a drawing in Vanilla next time I open in in Mech it will mention it's been saved in a different version. It doesn't seem to affect anything though. I agree that the main files are 2000/ 2004 and 2007 (post R14), and that we're better sticking to those? That was my initial thought anyway... Quote
dbroada Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I don't know about mechanical but when I was looking at electrical last year we were told you could open a file in vanilla which could break the intelligence. When you reopen the file in electrical you could repair the file. There may be subtle differences somewhere but they are beyond us. Of course the other way of checking is to press F2.... Quote
