kippax Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 using ACAD2007 I have an annoying anomaly. I need to insert an image into a title block. I do this and re-save as a dwt file. Now when I open as QNEW the image is present. However when I access EXACTLY the same template file to create a new layout of the appropriate size the image is missing and only the box and path appear. I have placed the image in question in the template folder as a precaution, but nothing seems to work. Anybody any ideas. Quote
bjenk8100 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Im not sure if you want to do this but i have an image in my title blocks. I make a title block for each paper size that i use (8.5x11, arch D and E). I modify page and pick each of those page dimensions and save as dwt. I copy and paste image in each of those dwt's. I made my first title block in 8.5x11. I copy that title block without image and bring it to other page sizes and scale it until it fits reasonably to where I can edit it to match my border. I then click image and resize it on each page until it looks ok and save. What kind of an image was it? Mine was just a company logo. Quote
nukecad Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Images are not saved in the drawing but are referenced by pathname (similar to an x-ref). You can set the path to where the image is stored in your defined search paths (TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILES) so that it can always be found when YOU are using Autocad; but if you want to send the drawing anywhere you will have to send the image with it and when the drawing is opened the image path will need to be reset to show where the image is now saved. One of the easiest ways round this problem is to trace over the image with CAD lines, curves and hatches so that it becomes part of the drawing. (Assuming that the logo is simple enough). Quote
kippax Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 bjenk.. I have the dwt file already created. I just need to edit the block that i use for the title block to include the jpeg image. nukecad.... I'm aware about the path thing, but I must have done something right, other wise it wouldn't work when I use the template file as a new drawing. It is currently setup so that when I open ACAD, I am given "Drawing 1" with all the layouts (different page sizes, with the title block block, appropriately scaled).... Image is present. When I want to create a new layout within an existing drawing, I select "from template" and then I select the same file as above and am asked to make a choice from the page sizes I have created. Select required page size...... Image is not present. So what i don't understand is why when I use EXACTLY the same file, located in exactly the same folder to create a new layout, the image is then missing. Quote
