jbird68 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Okay, I was asked to find the volume of a solid model I created. The problem is that when I select the model AutoCad tells me there was no solid selected. Any guesses as to why I can't do this simple thing? I am pretty sure it is a solid because when I select it the whole model highlights. Quote
JD Mather Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I am pretty sure it is a solid because when I select it the whole model highlights. Don't blocks do that? Don't groups do that? What happens if you then run List (LI)? Does it report a solid? What happens if you Explode once (make sure you have a backup)? Why not attach the file here? We spend all of this time creating geometry to communicate design intent, let's communicate with geometry. Quote
MSasu Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Please select that trouble-maker entity and call the LIST command - it will report the type of the entity; in order to list his volume (using MASSPROP command) it must be 3DSOLID type. Reagrds, Quote

MSasu Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 So, the troble-maker entity is a block - apply EXPLODE command on it and check again the type of result. May be a good idea to open the drawing in Read-Only mode before do that. Regards, Quote
jbird68 Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 I am just wondering how it got from a solid model to a block? I think I made it a blcok when I was trying to import the ISO view into a 2D drawing. Anyway...I exploded the block and the solid was still intact and was able to get the volume of my solid. thanks. Cad64 Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Are you certain it's a 3D Solid? Where did it come from? Did you create it in Autocad or is it imported from another program? What happens when you run the MASSPROP command? Does it give you the error that no solids were selected? Can you provide the drawing file? 1 Quote
BIGAL Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Look in properties and see what it says it is. Should be a 3D Solid. 1 Quote
SLW210 Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Can you post the .dwg with the model here? As above run LIST on the object. 1 Quote
