Bobzy20 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Hi can anybody tell me what CAD software is typically used to create 3D Model Home Interior/Exterior Visualisations? I know you can create these from the 2D Architect plans so maybe AutoCAD is a good place to start. Also what rendering software is typically used, 3DMAX? Quote
Cad64 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 3DS Max is not rendering software. It is a full 3D modeling and animation package which includes Mental Ray as it's rendering engine. Many firms will create their models in Autocad, or Autocad Architecture and then Import their models into Max for texturing, lighting and rendering because of the advanced features that Max has which Autocad does not have. I prefer to do the whole thing, start to finish, in Max though. I import the 2D plan and then build the model from the ground up. But that's just my own personal workflow. You should use whatever software you feel most comfortable with. Quote
gcp310 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 After years of using autocad for 3d work and rendering in either autocad, accurender, viz or cd4, i have now started using Sketchup for alot of my 3d work. for a start, its free, it has a huge community support base, theres a heap of free downloadable models, and now can be rendered using one of the many render programs that are available. The learning curve is much easier than Autocad/max also. Quote
