weird error stops me from saving

Recommended Posts

i keep getting an error about 1/4 of the time i save and it corrupts the save, so anything i change is lost, the error may vary, but its really getting on my nerves so i quickly took a picture of the error so i could post it here and hopefully one of you knows what it is

When did the error first occur?

Could it be due to file corruption?

i'm not sure when it first happened, probably not too long ago, like a week or two, i don't think the file is corrupt because when the save fails because of the error, i can still open the previous save of the assembly, make the same changes and then it saves fine, the only thing i can relate it to is the second time i make the changes i save again within a few minutes whereas it was much longer the first time

i did have a look at the project file like it said in that link, but it's still under single user

i don't know what CRC validation is...

any other ideas?

CRC validation is error checking when a file is written to a hard drive and when the file is read from the hard drive.

"A CRC is a number calculated on a chunk of data by running all of its byte values through a formula. The formula is designed so that if a byte value changes, there is a high probability that the number generated by the CRC formula will change."

The values when the file is written to and then read from the hard drive must match to ensure data integrity. If they don't you end up with a corrupted file. A bad sector on a disk is one possible cause.

Other ideas? None. Sorry. I am not a user of Inventor.

the hard drive is only a few months old and barely has anything on it (46gb out of 419 are used right now) so i hope its not that

does anyone else have any ideas?
