julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I'm using MEP 2008 and creating a block that will be used for the boarder for plotted drawings. I created attributes for the information that will change from page to page such as Description, Date, etc. When I close the block editor the attributes I've created do not show. The Invisible box is not checked. The attributes are on the same layer as text is visible. Annotation visibility for all scales is on. The text is annotative. Making it non-annotative doesn't matter, it's still not visible. Any help? Thanks, Julie Quote
Cat Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Have you purged your blocks to purge out the old revision of the block? Quote
julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Through the purge command on the page or through the Style Manager? Through the purge command there was nothing but the boarder block and the individual attributes. In the Style Manager all there is is Standard. You'll have to forgive me, I'm very rusty. Quote
numberOCD Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 If you zoom to extents, do you zoom out far and then see the attributes far to the side? Do you have a scale set on the block when it is inserted? Quote

The boarder block, it may be seeing the "old" block instead of the "updated" block. Quote
numberOCD Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Cat could be right. Did you copy this block into a file that already had a block with the same title? If so it will assume you are pasting the existing Block again. Quote
chulse Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 You may have already checked this, but the ANNOALLVISIBLE variable is viewport specific and needs to be set in each one. Quote
julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 I took the existing block, added the attributes then saved it. I didn't 'save as' or make a copy. I zoomed out so far all you could see was a dot. There was nothing to the side. I'm using a 36x24 size page. The boarder was created to fit that size page. I don't recall using the scale command to make it fit. As far as the attributes, I did nothing with scale. In the block edit window everything shows up just as created. As soon as I save and close the editor the attributes disappear. Everything else shows up. I've had problems before with annotative text not showing up in the plot view. I resolved it by making the text non-annotative. I couldn't find any other way to make the text appear in plot view. ANNOALLVISIBLE is set to 1 Quote
chulse Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Did you do a BATTMAN > Sync on the block after you changed the attribs? ... and make sure ANNOALLVISIBLE = 1 in all your paper space vports... Quote
julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Did BATTMAN . Sync - no effect. ANNOVISIBLE=1 in all viewports. Quote
numberOCD Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Did you open double click the block and type in values for the lines when prompted? Insert the block again and type something in each line. Quote

julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Previous attempts to double click on the block resulted in opening the block editor. I just tried it again and the attribute block opened allowing me to insert the info. It works now. I only wish I knew what I did! Whatever it was it was thanks to the help here. Thank you! BTW - is there a way to edit the attribute text to make it bold? Quote
numberOCD Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 To Bold the text you need to edit the ATT in the Block Editor. Quote
julimor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 I tried that. I didn't see a bold option in the editor. Quote
Cat Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I tried that. I didn't see a bold option in the editor. I duplicated your issue with the attributes with the same result. The attributes were invisible. I ended up unchecking and re-checking the Auto Preview. When I closed the block editor that time, the attributes were visible. I made a new style and used a font that had "Regular" and "Bold" styles. I set Standard to Regular and Standard Bold to Bold. Worked like a charm. Quote
