excessive waiting time for parts to load when opening iam and idw inventor 2010

Hi, we have inventor 2010 pro.. we have a model with over 5000 parts in. when we open an iam file or idw you can see the parts loading on the bottom right of the screen... our problem is that it will load say 30% of the parts, reset to zero and then reload and maybe add a few more at a time this can go on for 10 or more times until eventually the whole file opens with all the parts loaded.

does anyone else have this problem.???

can it be stopped? whats the solution??

many thanks

Try opening with LODs. If you have not created User LODs before I would recommend it. It can really help with load time if you are working on a portion of the assembly at a time. I usually have Medium and Low as custom LODs in my templates so whenever I create a new Assem they are always there.

For now, you can use the System Defined LODs. Select your assembly to open and before hitting the open button, click options and open it with All Components or All Parts Suppressed. Then unsuppress what you want to work on when you get into the design. Other ideas...

More Ram

Faster HD

Bigger Graphics Card - these three items are because you didn't list your specs so I have no idea what you have

Clean up your Project Workspace

Check paths in project

Have everything Local by using Autodesk Vault or if you are doing this now without Vault, make sure all the references are good
