daft vader Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Have received some PDF's of some cad drawings, they should be print at A1, they do print but parts of the drawing are missing. If I print on our smaller printer at A3 or A4 the whole drawing is there , we are not talking about the sides or bottom but parts of the drawing, IE the legend on the right above the title or some times a part in the middle of the drawing or an inserted picture maybe depending on which drawing I printed. I have also had to print in grey scale not Mono because if I do parts of the drawing print fully in black where ever the shading was on the drawing it masks everything under those parts, I have never had this happen before as I have always printed in Mono, is it the way these Cads have been drawn causing this or the conversion to PDF ? I do see all the drawing on the screen and also at the smaller printed sizes. One other thing incase it helps, it seems to take forever to send the info to the printer after pressing print and then it prints alot slower then normal, my printer is still working fine with everthing else i send to it (I have tried since this happened to prove it), so i wouldnt think its a printer or computer issue. nukecad Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Sounds like a printer driver problem. I have encountered problems in the past with some postscript print drivers, usually PS3's, missing parts of pdf files. Try changing the driver to a non postscript one. Quote
daft vader Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Thanks for the reply nukecad, but please explain more about changing the driver (not something i'm know how to) also are you talking about my cad printer driver ? as I did say apart from these PDF's I do not have a issue with printing any other PDF's they all print 100% ? Slaraffenmann Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 As nukecad says, this is probably a problem with the printer driver. I have experienced the same kind of trouble with some text-fonts. In that case it could be easier to just change the font than changing the printer drivers. Quote
daft vader Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Could someone please explain more about changing the driver its not something I know how to do ? Quote
DAPHNE DUCK Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I wish that I could help you with that, but I too, am encountering the same problem and have not been able to solve it so the explanation about changing the drivers would be a great help. In addition to that, the other problem I have with creating pdf files from cad drawings is that the hatch scale varies from sheet to sheet, even if the scale is the same for all the sheets. When I create plot files, everything is okay but for some reason, the hatched areas in the different pdf files varies from light to dark shades. How can I resolve this issue? Quote
RIFFLEMJ Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I am assuming you are using the AdobePDF printer as I have not had near as many problems with DWG to PDF from as I have with the AdobePDF. Anyway, try going into the properties of the printer inside your Plot dialog window, and go to Device and Document Settings tab, under graphics go to Raster Graphics and try tweaking some of the levels there try reprinting. daft vader Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Rifflemj, I have received a pdf of a cad drawing, I have then opened it using adobe reader then tried to print it, I am not converting my self I'm not having any issues with other pdf's just these ones I have received lately. It's got to be just theses pdf's for some reason they do not like being printed at A1 ? Guys I would still like to be told how to address the driver issue please ? Quote
bjenk8100 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 does the pdf look ok when you open it? If so, click print adn choose cute pdf again adn make another pdf file adn try printing that one. lol it might work it might not i dunno Quote
DAPHNE DUCK Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Actually I guess I am. Thanks for the input, I will give it a try and see what goes. Quote
DAPHNE DUCK Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The pdf does not look ok, I can see that lines are missing and that the hatching is scaled differently on different sheets although in AutoCad, all the settings are the same. The interesting thing is that when I plot it in AutoCad, everything looks fine. What gives? Quote
