CAD Library Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 hello there! I am trying to practice on 3d modeling in autocad 2009 rightnow... how will I make a "glass window"? I don't know how to make it really looked like a glass window.... where can I find the command? thanks! Quote
ReMark Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Have you started with the default glass material at least? I'm assuming you are into the material addition phase of your drawing right? I would offer as one suggestion that you start with the Glass-Clear material then set such parameters as Diffuse by color, Opacity, and Translucency. The parameters for Shininess and Refraction index I'd leave alone initially as well as the one for Self-Illumination. You can go back and play with these later (if at all). Quote
kencaz Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I don't do windows, ha ha, however AutoCAD does a pretty good job... As remark stated play with the opacity and trans... and drag and drop your material to the object. KC Quote
ReMark Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 You might consider assigning materials by layer as opposed to individual objects. Just a suggestion. Quote
CAD Library Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 thank you! I'd like to post what I just did in my glass window, but I don't know how to post photos in here like kencaz just did. but thank kencaz for showing that image! thank you remark! Quote

Cad64 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 how do you do that? Use the MATERIALATTACH command. This will open a dialog that will allow you to drag materials on to layers. Note: You have to load materials into your drawing before you can apply them to layers. If you don't have any materials loaded, then there won't be any showing up in the Material Attachment Options dialog. Quote
