You got some 3D but not all? Did you end up with surfaces?

AutoCAD 2006 I see. So we do not have the Press/Pull command or the Loft command.

Are you trying to create a surface or a solid?

Unable to extrude... what error message you get?

Very often the shape is not closed.

ReMark, in 2006 you can extrude only solids.

The error message i get is unable to extrude 70 objects, I am trying to extrude a solid but wheather i have actually drawn it as a solid is another story lol

You don't draw a solid you create it via the Extrude command. Please post the drawing or a portion of the drawing so we can figure out what is going on. Without it we are flying blind. JDM asked you to attach a file yesterday and you failed to do so. Try again. Thanks.

Yes, I would double check to see if the polyline was closed. Did you draw it as one continuous polyline or did you join alot of them together?

In addition to the problem of a non-closed polyline not extruding if the polyline contains overlapping linework the extrude will fail.

Also it is important to distinquish between a solid body, which is what you are tying to create and a solid object type which is a filled polygon.

"Unable to extrude 70 objects..."?! Probable your shape is composed by a lot of segments. Even if the ends overlap exactly each other, there is not a continuous profile. Try to use POLYEDIT or BOUNDARY before the extrusion.

Before you extrude, try to region it, so you will end up with a solid block instead of 70 different surfaces... also I am betting that there is somesort of a hole between the lines somewhere there are many methods to detect/fix this.

One way to detect the ends being open is to do Pedit, then join and start adding them up, and the ones that dont want to join right away are not connected perfectly.

To fix the ends being open

You can either zoom in really far on the places where the lines meet and check if the lines are meeting perfectly.

Or, a slightly easier method is to fillet each "corner" with a radius of 0.

and by corner... I mean open ends...

I'm betting the OP had either lines that overlapped each other or duplicate lines one atop the other.
