camillastn Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Very suddenly, auto cad (2010) does not recognize my commands...I try to copy, move, etc...and the command line keeps saying unrecognized command. Has this ever happened to anyone? I can't do anything... Quote
camillastn Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 I did restart my computer...is there anyway to do a reset in cad? Quote
BlackBox Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 What happened when you restarted your computer... are your commands working again? As for the reset question, please be more specific... reset what exactly? Quote
Dana W Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Do you have a path pointing to anything in your support files search path on Options > Files tab? You may have to go to Windows Control Panel > Change/Remove Programs > select AutoCAD > select the Repair option. Have your install disk ready, and you may have to re-install all the service packs for 2010. Quote
camillastn Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Restarting my computer did not make the commands work, I was just wondering if there was anywhere in CAD I could go to restore everything in CAD to its default settings... Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 There is no Reset button. As previously suggested you may have no other recourse than to do a Repair. Repair AutoCAD Click on the Windows Start button. Open the Control Panel. Select Add or Remove Programs. Windows will list all programs loaded. Scroll down the list until you find your version of AutoCAD. Click on the Change/Remove button. Setup initialization begins. At the next screen you should be presented with three options: -Add or Remove Features -Repair or Reinstall -Uninstall Select the Repair or Reinstall option and follow the on-screen prompts. Have your installation media (CD or DVD) nearby in case you are prompted to insert it. Quote
camillastn Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Thanks everyone, I'll give it a try. Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 By the way, have you downloaded and installed any updates for 2010? Quote
camillastn Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Also, I realized that I can type in the complete command, I just cannot type shortcuts for them, so somehow my shortcuts got disabled... Quote
BlackBox Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Sounds like PGP is no longer in the support path. Quote
designerstuart Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 try command REINIT and slect pgp file? Quote
alanjt Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Search the Support folder for your acad.pgp file. eg. (from Win7) "C:\\Users\\athompson\\AppData\\Roaming\\Autodesk\\Civil3D09\\enu\\support\\acad.pgp" For XP, it will be something like Documents and Settings... Quote
CAD Library Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I did reinstalled my autocad 2009... whenever I encounter problems like this... thanks to this.. I somehow know the alternative moves... Quote
ReMark Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 You never said whether you are current with any updates to 2010. Users should not do an uninstall/reinstall unless it is absolutely called for. Troubleshoot first. If that fails then attempt a Repair. If that fails then do the whole uninstall/reinstall following AutoDesk's explicit instructions so nothing is missed. Quote
kiidaka Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Have you tried the redifine command? what is the complete message that comes up when you try to enter a command? Quote
