br0604bom Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 how can i get a surface to go from a line on the ground, say on x axis, to go up and follow two different paths on either side, up to a line on y axis? cheers to someone who has the answer Quote
David Bethel Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Can you post an example? Or an end product image? -David Quote
br0604bom Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 Can you post an example? Or an end product image? -David can you see this okay? right, so i never got the two lines as i would like but you get the idea, for the surface to go from bottom cyan line to top cyan line and to follow both coloured lines, either side, as said, both lines will be more loose splines, but this is the general idea Quote
kencaz Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Try lofting the two cyan lines using the red line as a path... Quote
David Bethel Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Do you need a surface or a region? Edgesurf makes a mesh surface from 4 connected entities ( line, arcs, polylines, lwpolyines, spilnes etc ) So you could draw a 3D line from the end point of one line an end point of the other line for both ends. -David Quote
br0604bom Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 kencaz, that is exactly it, thanks very much, also, david this looks really neat, i will look into this further, always good to see different method and the results, once again, cheers people:) Quote
JD Mather Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Given the limitations of edgesurf in 2008 I don't think I would fool with edgesurf. Quote
David Bethel Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 JDM, Are there new limitations? In previous releases, there has always been a surftab 256m x 256n max. And it has been a little flakey in exact end points on very large values 1,000,000+ units. ? -David Quote
