I need to draw grass covered rolling hills.

Can I draw them without third party software such as Terra Firma?

Thankl you!

I'm going through it. I do have a question. Is it always techicolor or can I make green hills?

I'm not so good at acad, can't follow the tutorials and it looks fancier than what I need or want.

Anyway, I played around with rulesurf. It looks about like what I want but on every contour line, the rulesurf goes the opposite way. This makes a smooth hill look like a set of stairs.

Anyway, I'm not set on rulesurf. I'm certain there is a better AND SIMPLE way. Besides, I don't think rulesurf will do the top of the hill

Take a look at a plug-in called 'Lands', also Acad 2011 can manipulate meshes pretty well if your not too worried about accuracy.

If not my advice would be to build up layers similar to a physical model using contours and the SWEEP function.

Thanks. I'll look into the sweep command. How should I draw my contours differently?

Recommending the Sweep command to do land contours? Wouldn't Loft be better?

sorry, meant LOFT.

Well that clears up any confusion. Didn't want the OP to be yelling "WTF?!".

Thanks.

Loft looks good. I will probably do it that way. I have notice that I can only loft every other contour.

I think I'll make 2 copies of the terrain and separate them. Terrain 1 I will loft contour 1, 3, 5 and on the other terrain loft 2, 4, 6

I will then combine the two

That doesn't make sense. You should be able to loft the whole thing in one go. Can you post your CAD file?

Sounds like you are lofting two contours at a time. The profiles you are lofting should remain viable though so you can then select one of the previous ones and a new one. Try moving the solid you created to one side temporarily to see if the profiles are still there.
