Hi all

 

I've used this forum in the past to find out various answers to questions that I've had and always great success - so many thanks for that.

 

I am reasonably confident in the 2d world but with the acquisition of a CNC router I'm keen to exploit the 3d world!

 

I'm kind of doing this in my spare time because I want to build a guitar. I can model it in 2D, extrude it and make a simple 3D shape but that's where I get stuck.

 

 

I dont know how to do the variable fillets(?) like in this picture

Is there an easy way to do this?

If you draw the body and neck in 2D and extrude each part individually, it should be an easy task to fillet them separately with different radius, if this is what you meant by "variable fillets"

Thanks for the reply, Hoss. I dont think that I explained myself very clearly. I was talking about the setcion on either side of the guitar boby which is filleted. The fillet tapers from the centre of the guitar to each end. I guess that you could make the original shape oversize, fillet it then do a boolean subtraction to remove the excess. However, that doesn't seeem like an elegant solution and I'm wondering if there's an alternative way of doing it?

Autodesk Inventor has a variable radius fillet tool.
