lewysr Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have a mound of earth on site and need to survey it and calculate the volume. If I survey the area and record all points, Easting, Northing and Elevation. Is it possible to import these readings into autocad and somehow connect all points so that I can then calculat the volume? Any help or advice would be great. Thanks Quote
eldon Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 You would need the Civil/ Surveying version of AutoCAD to do this easily. But if you only have access to ordinary (vanilla) AutoCAD, if you know what you are doing, it would be possible to create the 3D triangular faces that join up your survey points, but very hard work, and then make a 3D shape. What about the data for original ground surface under the mound? You need a bottom surface to complete the 3D volume. Quote
lewysr Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 I have surveyd the bottom mound around the object and will use that as the bas of my mound. How would I go about creating the 3D triangluar faces? Line, Polyline? Thanks for your reply. Quote
eldon Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 How would I go about creating the 3D triangluar faces? Line, Polyline? I have never done this as I use Land Desktop. But it should be possible. Perhaps try 3D face? Quote
