Burner Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have added light and materials to my object. When I'm in layout tab these details do not appear in the viewport. Is there a way to view what I'm seeing in 3D model space? Quote
ReMark Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Have you produced a rendering? That's where I would expect them to show up. Quote
Burner Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 Yes, I produced a rendering, but I am unsure of the next step. It shows up in a separate window rather than the viewport. I hope to produce PDF copies using Publish Selected Layouts. If the rendering would somehow show up in the viewport area OR the viewport show some sort of definition rather than a black object, I would be golden. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 The render dialog should have an option to render to destination Viewport Render Window File... It would seem you are rendering to the Render Window maybe more - I've got an older AutoCAD copy. Look in help. Quote

Is there a way to view what I'm seeing in 3D model space? Double click inside the viewport, type SHADEMODE at the command prompt and change the setting to "Realistic". Type RPREF at the command prompt to open the Advanced Render Settings palette. At the top of the palette, under "General", you can change the render "Destination" to either Window or Viewport. If you want to create a PDF from your render, you will have to render to Window and then save to one of the available image formats. From there, you can open the image in any image editing program and print to PDF. As far as I know, you can't do it directly from the viewport render. Quote
Burner Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 Great info. Definitely helps me out. If you want to create a PDF from your render, you will have to render to Window and then save to one of the available image formats. From there, you can open the image in any image editing program and print to PDF. As far as I know, you can't do it directly from the viewport render. It would be nice to print the entire layout, including border, render and additional 2D viewports with dimensions... Quote
