moinmartin Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Hi there, can someone help me please... My layers have gone funny in the way that all the layers that i have previously used are still there but if i activate a line or object, everything is showing up on one layer. If i draw a new line it also is on one layer. I can activate a line, put it on a diffrent layer, but again all the other lines will become that one layer. Is probably a simple setting issue, but i have no clue where to reset it. Quote
CyberAngel Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 What is it exactly that tells you that everything has moved to your one layer? Does everything change color or linetype, or do you look at the properties of each object? Is it possible that you've selected the other lines when you change layers? I don't see this as a normal setting, because nobody would want to do that. Quote
moinmartin Posted September 28, 2010 Author Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) ...no matter what the current layer is, every line or object that i click, will show up on that layer. the same happens with drawings created long time ago. all layers in the layer manager still show up. also the lines are still displayed in their different colors and properties. but when i click on the line it shows the current layer, not the one the line has initially been associated with. Might this be an Architectural Desktop thing? I am using ADT 2004. Edited September 28, 2010 by moinmartin Quote
Cad64 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 It's not that your lines are all on the same layer. It sounds like your PICKFIRST variable has been changed. Type PICKFIRST at the command line and make sure it's set to 1. Quote
moinmartin Posted September 28, 2010 Author Posted September 28, 2010 I have been working with AUTO CAD for about 10 years now and have never come across this problem. pickfirst has solved it. thank you so much. just out of interest, what is it actually for? why would one use it? again many many thanks.
