Hello everyone. I'm using an extremely old version of CAD (2000) and I hope someone might be able to help me with this new problem I'm having. I'm also sort of a novice with CAD. Please bear with me.

I'm trying to plot to PDF. I do it all the time, usually with no problems. Today, I got what looks like a windows box which popped up. Along the top of the box it says "AutoCAD Error", but then inside the box, it says "The operation completed successfully" and the only option is to click OK. But when you click OK, it doesn't go away, it just stays, and I can't do anything in CAD. The only way to close CAD is to do control alt delete and close it that way. I also can't find the document that apparently "completed successfully"...

I've tried plotting other documents to PDF, with the same result; however they will plot to the printer.

The only thing that's changed since it worked is that we recently installed a new scanner on this machine, and it's associated driver and software. But I really have no idea if that's why it's doing this....

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Amber, what PDF driver are you plotting to?

Adobe? CutePDF? PDF995? Something else?

When you plot to PDF, does it normally ask you for an output file name each time?

If so, does the error occur before it ask you for the file name?

It's Adobe Acrobat Distiller. Yes, it usually asks me to name it, and the error is happening before I get to that point. I've actually (since my last post) determined that it's not AutoCAD, it's the adobe. It won't PDF anything from excel either, and probably not any other program (even though Excel is the only one I've tried). So... i'm leaning toward it being the scanner that screwed me up. :x

Soooo.... sorry to ask two questions in the same post, but they're related, I suppose. I couldn't figure out my Adobe issue, so I got the PrimoPDF that I've heard such good things about. Apparently you can plot from AutoCAD to PrimoPDF, but you need to send it to the PrimoPDF driver. Anyone know how to do that? I appologize again for not knowing enough.

I don't know anything about PrimoPDF, but after you install it, it should create a Windows printer that you can print to from any application including AutoCAD.

I too know nothing about PrimoPDF, but my company does use DeskPDF.

Like RK says, once installed there is a Windows .PS (post script) print driver, however, we create/use .PC3 print drivers for AutoCAD.
