External Threads representation

I just created a part that has external threads on it. I used the Helix and Spiral feature to create a path at a specific depth and pitch and then make a triangle to follow the path to actually cut threads on the part. SolidWorks has a Hole wizard that will represent threads on holes. My question is this: Is there a way to make threads on the OD of a part and have them represented by a hidden line instead of actual cut threads?

Use the Hole Wizard. When you create a 2d drawing the theads will automatically be represented with hidden lines.

 

For external threads use the cosmetic thread tool. This will also give you simplified representation in the drawing.

The thread annotation can be found on Insert>Annotation>Cosmetic Thread...
