shift1313 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Im having an issue creating a solid from a mesh surface(see other post). My design has som overhangs in it so i end up having to do the mesh2solid command in a few different planes to capture the entire surface. I get a "solid" part for each mesh surface but when i try to union is when i run into problems. Before i can union i need to use the BREP command. After that it will let me add everything except for the side where the overhang is(see pic below). I keep getting a null solid error and the whole object is deleted. My question is how can i (extrude) this piece in a manner that it wont create a null solid. I can continue the design without doing this because i have the mesh surface as a reference for machining but i would like to be able to show an entire solid model. thanks Quote
shift1313 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 also something else interesting happening when i try to slice my object. acad creates a solid box. very odd. im working with half of the model and mirroring everything but i still end up with error. The figure above is actually two halfs. when i try to union those i get the null solid error Quote
shift1313 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 I wasnt able to figure a way around the null solid issue so i redid the skin with no "overhangs" and everything worked out fine. Since i used the same footprint for both designs i can use the old skin for my machining reference for the body, and the new solid for my internal reference, hopefully. i would still like to know if there is a way around this. thanks Quote
ReMark Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Give this man a big gold star. Not only did he ask the question he answered it as well. If that ain't efficiency in all its glory I don't know what is. Quote
