rdharvey Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Hi, is there functionality within inventor to find out the capacity of a models internal area? Ie i need to model a 70 ltr tank how do i know its the correct sizes. Would this be done in simulation or is there an easy function to find this out like in some other software i have previously used. Any help greatly appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Why wouldn't you have some idea beforehand of the diameter and straight side length you wish to use before attempting to create a drawing of the tank? Are we putting the cart before the horse here? Quote
shift1313 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I dont recall if IV has volume. I know it has area. I know SW does when you select Mass Properties. Hopefully someone will know for sure. Quote
rdharvey Posted October 22, 2010 Author Posted October 22, 2010 i have brief dimensions but need to check the capacity and modify to adhere as it needs to be 70 litres. Yeah i thought inventor would have something like solid works mass properties.... hmmm Quote
MarkFlayler Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 These are some methods I have used to define void geometry... http://blogs.rand.com/manufacturing/2010/01/determine-volume-of-a-container-using-autodesk-inventor.html Volume of your geometry can be found on the Physical Tab of the iProperties Quote
