flem snopes Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 We use both AutoCad 2008 and 2005 in my shop and this question is about a project we're keeping in the 2005 version. We typically use xclip boundaries for organizing very large xrefs and formatting them for paper space drawing production. My problem arises from a drawing with several xclip areas with polygonal boundaries that have a multitude of sides (20-30). I need to expand one of the boundaries to include some drawing revisions I made in the original file and it would simplify things if I could just select the xclip boundary and move a few points rather than erase the complete boundary and then try to reconstruct it in the (mostly) same configuration. This is a project with several entities, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. all maintaining the plan set so the final product has to look pretty much the same as my starting point. Is this possible? Thanks for any suggestions. Quote
Dipali Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 edit the boundry with pedit>edit vertex> insert vertex option and after doing that Use this steps to delete old boundry & choose new boundry. Command: xclip Select objects: 1 found Select objects: * Enter clipping option [ON/OFF/Clipdepth/Delete/generate Polyline/New boundary] : * Delete old boundary(s)? [Yes/No] :: * Specify clipping boundary: [select polyline/Polygonal/Rectangular] : S * Select polyline: Quote
smorales02 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Do XCLIP than select the xref you want to modify than hit P for (generate polyline) and just modify the points you need to via stretch or the grips. Than just reclip the xref with the new boundary Quote
flem snopes Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 Thanks, Guys. I'll try both approaches and get back to you. Quote
flem snopes Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 I tried Dipali's approach first and had complete success. The step-by-step handholding got me through with minimal screwups. I'm glad I found this forum. Thanks to you both. Quote
