paulosalvado Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Hellow To all cad gurus Please tell me if there is a way ( a fast one eheheh) from copy all the properties from the layers (color, line wheit, and more...) from one drawing to another. I what to make the same appearance between 2 drawings. Ps- all the drawings are made whit xref so the name of the layers is the same... Quote
ReMark Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Erase everything in the first drawing then do a "save as" using a new name. Now look at the top of your screen where the drawing file name is displayed. You'll see that you are now working in the newly created drawing and not the original. For future consideration: create a template with all the required layers, linetypes, fonts, etc. that you would like to have immediately available when you open a new drawing. Quote
paulosalvado Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 In some cases it may work the tip that you gave to my problem but... There is always a but....ehehhee My 2 drawings are finished besides that problem of appearance and have a lot of layout tabs. (more or less 200km of railroad..). But thanks anyway for your tip that sometimes we forget that exists...ehhehe Quote
nestly Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Use a Standards (.dws) file or use the Express Tool LAYTRANS (Layer Translator) http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%202010%20User%20Documentation/files/WS1a9193826455f5ffa23ce210c4a30acaf-4a76.htm Quote

May I suggest a slight modification to your excellent response? Perform the "Save as" first, then erase all. This can avoid a potential problem of losing all your geometry if for some reason you are interrupted and forget to then do the save as. Edited November 26, 2010 by Patrick Hughes Quote
