bs1192 Getting standard architect layers set up

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just realised there are standard names for cad layers rather than my Layer 1 "walls" style of doing things.

1, Is there someone who has painstakingly written these all out so I can just load them in?

2. How do I load them in?

3. If there isn't a source of standard layers in some sort of file, and I write them out this evening (and will share them on the forum), how do I set it up so that those layers allways come up when I start a project?

Thanks very much!

Just make a dwt file and load em up with all your standard layers. eg, A-WALLS, A-WINDOWS etc. that way everytime you start a new file you are already pre loaded with your standard layers

in ACAD 'Architecture'the standard layers are preset to BS1192(can't remember at the mo.) or AIA (?). But I think you might have vanilla so don't know if its there - 'layer keys'. See an earlier thread with the title 'layer keys'. still confuses me tho'...:?:?

I have attached a script file with the layers that I use. Although my template files have the layers already imbeded, there are time when I need the layers reloading. Simply drag and drop the scr file into the drawing. You could of course set a button to do this, but for once in a blue moon its not worth it.

I know this thread is a few years old but was wondering if any other script files are available with the proper AIA or AEC(UK) layering descriptions already written up.

I typically get drawings from engineers which use there own in-house standards and would like to just select individual objects and move them to the AIA/AEC layering before I edit the drawings and purge them and send them on to the architects.
