Drawing Template saved in 2010..

Hi,

Having edited and saved our project template dwt in 2010, one user who has 2009 can't open it. In my options >> Open & Save i have it defaulted to 2007 dwgs but what can i do about dwt's?

I've tried saving the file as a 2007 dwg, then as a dwt file but still nothing..

Basically, when he boots 2009, it says that the file is not valid and opens a default metric blank drawing and its even said it was originally saved in a later version and can't open it, so hence trying to save it as an earlier version..

Anything else i can do?

I don't think there is a way to save dwt files in past formats. You could save it as a 2007 dwg, then open it on the 2009 machine and save that as another dwt there (in the older format). I had a similar issue, eventually forced us all to upgrade...

I use trueview and just replace the .dwt with .dwg and rename them again after the batch convert. Works for me on 2011 to 2007.

We tried the TrueView but for some reason it wouldnt work still so all i did was Chulse's suggestion for a quick fix and it works fine. Thanks

You can just SaveAs to a 2007 DWG file. Open explorer, right-click on the file and select Rename - change it to a DWT. There's no difference between a DWG and a DWT file except for the extension. Or at least nothing major - just the description (which you can add manually to the drawing properties).

If you don't see the extension in explorer, you may have to turn off the "Hide known extensions" option in the folder options dialog.
