paul1966 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 i have recently started using a nas hard drive, yesterday i had some dwl files left on the drive after cad closed, is there a way to stop cad creating these files, i am the only one using the nas so no one else will be opening the cad files at the same time. ReMark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I was under the impression if AutoCAD closed in a normally manner dwl files would automatically be deleted. Quote
Cad64 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 If Autocad crashes, sometimes the dwl file doesn't get deleted. But 99.9% of the time they do get deleted when the program closes normally. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I haven't seen an orphaned lock file since release 13. Saw enough of them then to last a lifetime, but that's a whole other story. Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I have read of two methods to stop their creation. One seems rather simple while the other requires hacking the Registry (make a backup first). Try number 1 first. 1. Move WhoHas.arx to another folder not in AutoCAD's search path. 2. Edit the Registry by deleting the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R21\ACAD-xxxx:yyy\Applications\AcadWhoHas. Quote
