kopski Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I want to upgrade from Autocad 2007 to Autocad 2010, but I have heard that I cannot run both versions on the same computer. Is this true? It was never an issue in the past when upgrading. Can I activate 2010, without retiring 2007? Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 From AutoDesk's point of view you must have a Subscription to retain the older version on your computer. If not then it must be removed within a certain time limit. I think it is 30 days but I don't rightly recall. The EULA will spell it out for you. OK...I'm no longer certain about the time limit altogether. I'm still looking. OK. Found it. Look at my next post. Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Quoted directly from the License Agreement for AutoCAD 2010. 2.3 Upgrades. If Autodesk labels the Software in the User Documentation as an upgrade or update (“New Version”) to software previously licensed to You (“Previous Version”), the license grant with respect to the Previous Version terminates one hundred twenty (120) days after Installation of the New Version. Within such one hundred twenty (120) day period of Installing the New Version: (i) You must cease all use of the Previous Version and Uninstall all copies of the Previous Version; and (ii) destroy all Autodesk Materials relating to the Previous Version or, upon request by Autodesk, return all such Autodesk Materials relating to the Previous Version to Autodesk or the company from which they were acquired. Autodesk reserves the right to require You to show satisfactory proof that all copies of the Previous Version have been Uninstalled and all Autodesk Materials relating to the Previous Version have been destroyed or returned. If You have purchased Autodesk Subscription, You may have additional rights under the Autodesk Subscription Agreement and the obligations in this Section may not apply to You during the term of the Autodesk Subscription Agreement. It looks like 120 days to me. If you choose to ignore the time limit then that is a matter between you and AutoDesk. Are we clear? Quote
kopski Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Thanks alot ReMark, you have been very helpful. Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 You're welcomed. For those of you just itching to read the License Agreement type the word ABOUT at the command line then press Enter. At the next window to appear click on the Product Information button. This will, in turn, bring up the Product License Information window. Find and click on the License Agreement button. Start reading. The License Agreement will have one of two affects on you. You'll either immediately fall asleep or it will scare the pants off you. Pantless? Please refrain from running through the CADTutor lounge area. I've seen enough scary things to last me a lifetime. You, pantless, is one thing I do NOT need to see. Falling asleep? Stick a sock in it. I hate listening to snoring. Now, back to our regular programming. Quote
