clicker Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Does anyone remember a product called autokey? It was a plugin 10 key device (with accompanying software) that would assign all autocad hotkeys to 2-digit inputs. Numerical input could also be entered in using the device. So basically you could keep your right hand on the mouse and your left hand over the 10 key device at all times, without ever having to look away from the screen. It took awhile to get used to, but once you had it down, It was freakin awesome. I worked with a firm in 2000 and they had it at all the workstations. I just googled it and it looks like it's gone the way of the dodo. Anyone know of a similar product? Quote
ReMark Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Vaguely. Is this what you are talking about? http://www.autohotkey.com/ I've found references to at least two other AutoKey programs. Can you provide any further information to narrow down the choices? Do you remember the company that produced the program? Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I have one of these: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=390404 It's aimed at gamers, but will do exactly what you're describing. You'll have to write the macro's yourself for each key, but it's not hard to do. The programming software is a little....odd...but you'll figure it out. You can have 3 layers of commands assigned to the keys, does some other cool stuff. There are others available too, various manufacturers. You can get the belkin and several others at bestbuy and amazon and places like that. Quote

Do you remember the company that produced the program? don't remember the company, it was a cream colored device, about 5"x7" with red keys. It was specifically made for Autocad users. I wasn't trying to get a hold of the old 2000 version, just wondering if it might have been bought out by another company and changed names. Quote
