justAnIntern Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Hello CAD Wizards, When I implement the WIPEOUT command the area inside the polyline gets "wiped out". how can I make it so that the area outside the polyline gets "wiped out" instead? Thanks, JustAnIntern Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 That is not how WIPEOUTs work. Depending on your situation, you may be able to use multiple wipeouts to hide the areas around what you are trying to show, you may be able to use a viewport to do it, or you can create a block out of your geometry (or xref it into a new drawing), then use XCLIP to do what you want. JPlanera Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 unfortunately wiipeout does not work like that, however, XCLIP has an invert clip option. Your objects will have to be blocked though Quote
justAnIntern Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 how would i use tframes. when i type TFRAMES is only gives me the option to either toggle the boundary on or off. i'm trying to do it in paperspace Quote
JPlanera Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Well then if you are doing this in PS then i would recommend you utilize viewports as rkmcswain suggested Quote
justAnIntern Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 it would have to be an irregular shaped viewport, something that autocad really hates Quote
JPlanera Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Its ok, you are the boss of autocad, you tell HIM what to do!! I wouldnt worry about it if i were you.. Use the Object option of MVIEW, and if your autocad has a problem with it, tell him to come talk to me! Quote
justAnIntern Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 thanks. there is a way to clip everything inside the viewport, outside a boundary drawn on PS. i heard it was done through tframes. i know there's different ways to do one specific task in CAD but i'm trying to find out one specific way to do it. rkmcswain Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 unfortunately wiipeout does not work like that, however, XCLIP has an invert clip option. Your objects will have to be blocked though Actually, XCLIP and WIPEOUT already do the inverse of each other. XCLIP hides geometry outside the border, while WIPEOUT hides geometry inside the border. Using the Inverse option of XCLIP makes it act more like a wipeout. Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 ...i heard it was done through tframes. Tframes is nothing more than a shortcut to turn the frame (or visible border) OFF or ON for all IMAGEs and WIPEOUTs. there is a way to clip everything inside the viewport, outside a boundary drawn on PS. Is that a question or a statement? Quote
