Tyke Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 On one computer I have AutoCAD 2009, 2010 and 2011 installed. With 2009 and 2011 I can open the CUI and see the AutoCAD name at the top. With 2010 when I open the CUI I see the AutoCAD name but in brackets is (Write protected) and I can't edit the CUIX. I've checked the properties of all *.cuix files for 2010 and none of them are write protected/read only. Does anybody know what I have to do get rid of the write protection? btw I only have the one instance of AutoCAD open and as far as I know no other application accesses the cuix file. Quote
JPlanera Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Do you have multiple workstations? If the cui file is located in a "public" or "enterprise" location, it will be read only Quote
Tyke Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 Nope, AutoCAD is installed on each individual computer and the cuix files reside on that computer. Templates etc are located on the server. Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Could it somehow be related to "permissions"? Quote
JPlanera Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Could it somehow be related to "permissions"? Good suggestion, but if each computer is standalone, i cant imagine the file would deny access... stranger things have happened though. I did a search on my computer for ".cuix" and saw that i had duplicate files in two locations... Try a search on your computer for theses files. Maybe the ones you checked were the "backup" files... Tyke Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 @ Mark: I'm running AutoCAD with admin rights. But why only one version (2010)? @ JPlanera: I just checked and I have no duplicates in 2010. I also checked the path in options files and it points directly to the acad.cuix Quote
JPlanera Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 @ Mark: I'm running AutoCAD with admin rights. But why only one version (2010)? Did you check the security tab in the .cuix file? Or just the acad.exe file for permissions? Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 You are opening the acad.cui file from within AutoCAD right? Quote
Tyke Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 @ JPlanera: The permisions in the security tab are all ok, no restrictions at all. @ Mark: Yup, doing it all from within AutoCAD. Checking properties is done using Windows Explorer. Quote
ReMark Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Could it be that the folder the CUI file is located in has its attribute set to "read only"? Quote
Tyke Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 When I check the folder properties the check box is filled green, not with a tick. I can remove the filling and click ok, but whenI check the properties again it is filled green again. It is exactly so for versions 2009 and 2011. They all have their own folders and do not share anything. It would appear somewhat unlikely that this is the problem, but I'm willing to try anything. Quote
