poirier Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 How can I open Autocad without the default drawing opening (Drawing1.dwg)? I'd rather have it start like the older versions of autocad where I pick which drawing to open. Thanks in advance! Quote
bbankston Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 thanks, rkent. I've always wondered how to change that myself. How do you guys know these things? Quote
f700es Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I always thought it would be cool to have a setting where it was no start-up template and and no start screen. Then you could set the background to be the company logo. Well, I thought it would be cool Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Just an FYI.... even if you startup AutoCAD and "drawing1.dwg" opens, it will close as soon as you open another drawing, provided DBMOD=0 in "drawing1.dwg". Quote
rkent Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 ..... How do you guys know these things? I have used AutoCAD since 1988 and each year of a new release I purchase a book based on the new release and read it through. For the last 4 or 5 releases I have only purchased the Ralph Grabowski booklet "What's New In AutoCAD 20xx". I had a subscription to Cadalyst and Cadence for years and learned a lot from those magazines as well. Also I have been participating in forums like this one for years and so I pick up knowledge along the way, just as you have for this one particular issue. Quote
bbankston Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 this site is uh-mazing! Seriously, we've had a couple of new hire AutoCAD monkeys here that have schooling/certifications and I still know more than them, and I'm self taught through the PDF booklet (that came with the software) and this wonderful website. PS (those guys don't work here no mo'.) Quote
KENAI1194 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Change the variable STARTUP to 1. Is there a time limit on replying? I just spent the last 10 minutes or so getting it just right, & when I did Preview Post I was told I wasn't logged in! Quote
KENAI1194 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Been using Map 3D 2011 for the last couple months (2007 before that). Yesterday I installed Autodesk viewer to be able to view the CADfiles as a Viewer would show them. We have been having issues w/ Masking blacking out Field text (Filename) when printing from the Viewer in our document management software (EDMS). I wanted to see if my solution worked by opening the file in the viewer after installing it on my box. Then I noticed the Drawing1.dwg along w/ the desired CADfile. I Uninstalled the viewer, but that did not help. Anyone know if the INI file or some such IT Nazi stuff going on here? I am just the CAD guy, not knowledgeable enough in It stuff to know what all my installs have done. Quote
