Auxiliary Views - partial, and from section?

First I assume from attempting that IV will not project an auxiliary view from a section view.

 

So how to get an auxiliary view and only show a portion of it, and not have to have a right side view along with a section view?

 

Is the following the correct way to get there?

 

Create a right side view of the base and locate it on top of the section view(for my example the right side will give me the Aux view at 90 degrees to the surface I want to project).

 

Create the Aux view.

 

Use crop to show the area I want on the Aux view.

 

Finally suppress the right side view.
