Arnold Groenendijk Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Dear everyone, I guess that the following problem should be a femiliar one becouse a couple of coworkers have the same issue. but the strange thing is that i can't seem to find any info regarding this issue on the web. anyway. as stated by the title the problem is a weird behaving crosshair. when i'm using autocad for some time the crosshair dissapears. before that there is no issue. there also seems to be no appearent reason for it to dissapear. colors are right and snap is just 5 mm. There are 2 things i can do to correct this behavior. the first thing is to move the crosshair. while moving it's visible. but when is stops moving is also stops te be visible, so that's not much of a solution. The other thing is restarting the PC. Just restarting autocad doesn't cut it. that last thing makes me think that it's not autocad itself but something else that makes the crosshairs behave this way. graphics card issues don't seem te be is becouse my coworkers and me have diffrent cards, and they are all updated? can anyone give some suggestions? ReMark Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 So just to clarify the issue your crosshairs literally become invisible at some point but only when you are using AutoCAD right? This does not happen in any other program? Quote
Arnold Groenendijk Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 indeed, they become invisible after a period of time ( from 5 minutes up to a couple of houres or sometimes not even at all). it only occours in autocad. no other programs seem to be affected, and when the problem occours the cursor will still be visibile when i minimize autocad and use word for example. so watever couses the crossairs to behave this way must somhow be connected to acad? Jack_O'neill Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 here's a thread from last year about a similar problem. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?31833-Crosshairs-disappear Read that and see if any of it applies to what you're doing. Quote
ReMark Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 It does sound more like an AutoCAD-related problem. Are you working in 2D, 3D or both? The only other thing I can think of, which you seem to have already discounted, is that the problem is somehow related to the graphics card. Possible conflict between the driver and something within AutoCAD or a memory allocation. I'm thinking along the lines of the old I/O issues that plagued early computers. Quote
Arnold Groenendijk Posted December 25, 2010 Author Posted December 25, 2010 Hi Jack, I have already revieuwd that post. i don't think that that could be the case here becouse his problems do'nt occour randomly and can be easely solved. he won't have to restart his PC in order to continue to work. hi mark, to awnser your question, i'm only working in 2D. fyi I only discounted graphics card issues (and other hardware issues for that matter) becouse of the randomness with witch the problem occours. is that a just assumption to make? your'e saying that it could be an I/O issue. how could such issue's be identified? btw. sorry for my somewhat poor english. dutch... ReMark Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I'm saying that it reminds me of an I/O issue. It's when two devices attempt to use the same memory address. It's been a while since I've done any of that type of troubleshooting that I'd have to give myself a "refresher" course. LOL Do not apologize for your English. We have people here in the U.S. that were born in this country who speak as though they grew up in another country never having heard English before. You're doing just fine. If we have any difficulty deciphering what you have written we'll let you know. Quote
nestly Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 What version of Windows are you using? Is everyone using the same version of Windows/AutoCAD? Are you using the default Windows mouse driver or running mouse software? Have you tried disabling Hardware Acceleration in AutoCAD, that may help isolate if it's a video related conflict. Quote
