Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Using AUTO ARCH 2010 and having difficulties w/ changing a ROOM TAG text. Under INSERT - EDIT BLOCK I make the changes I want and the "new block" looks great when viewed through TEST BLOCK including text location, size and font, but when I exit TEST BLOCK, save the block I just made changes to the text does not change. What am I missing? Please advise. Thanks, Marc Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Isn't this a reprise of your thread from yesterday? It looks familiar. Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Yes. I moved my question to another forum in hopes of getting additional input. Was this wrong of me? Marc Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Normally double posting of threads is frowned upon. If a thread is inadvertantly placed in the wrong forum the original poster can request that a Moderator move the thread. Just a little something to keep in mind for the future. Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Okay, thanks for the advice. Update to the original question. I have figured out a way to make ALL changes to a ROOM TAG. Once I change a ROOM TAG to the way I want it to appear (in order to get the text to update) I re-do the ROOM TAG. The bad thing is I have over 465 rooms to re-do so the tag looks the way I need it to look. Is there a way to update all room tags without having to re-do? If it is the ATTSYNC command, I cannot figure out how to make it work. Please advice. Thanks, Marc Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 ATTSYNC is clearly explained in your AutoCAD Help file. Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Okay. Tried again using ATTSYNC by inserting name of the ROOM TAG (to the best of my knowledge the ROOM TAG is a block) and by selecting the ROOM TAG in the drawing. In both cases the ROOM TAG did not update to the new "look". I read where ATTSYNC is the command to use to update blocks. I am sure I must be missing a step. Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 One other note: The box around the room number DID change it is the text that is not up-dating thru ATTSYNC. Again, I am sure I am missing a step. Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Can you post the block? I'm sure I just tested this same command (ATTSYNC) and had no problem. What kinds of changes did you make to the block? Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 I moved the box, around the room number, up and reduced the box in size. It updates just fine. I also, changed font to Arial Narrow, center justification (centered in the boxes new location) it is not updating. Thanks for the help!! room tag.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I see we are dealing with an annotative block not a plain block. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem you're experiencing. Quote
Marc5 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Do not know. As mentioed, when I redo the room tag it works great. Above my head as with a number of things with AUTO CAD. If you figure something out, please share. Again, Thanks. I will keep trying too. Quote
Marc5 Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Man, Room Tags are frustrating - at the moment! As I mentioned, a few days ago, I thought I figured out a way around my problem with Room Tags. That is, making a Room Tag look the way I want it to look. I just re-inserting the room tag. All worked great, with rooms I had already tagged. It appears that when a NEW room tag is added (to a space never tagged) it does not inherit the properties of the altered tag. Same drawing new space Room Tag (this room has never been tagged) unlike the others discussed which were tagged and updated by re-inserting the tag. Please see attached. The tag with the box next to the room name (the way I want the tag to look) was created a few days ago, the other was created today. Any additional advise? Thanks...... ROOM TAG AGAIN.dwg Quote
