swats Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I just recently started playing with Autocad 2010. At work we are using version 2005. The company I work does tooling work and we have several different customers. In the past my customers would send us step, iges or sat files. Those can be imported into Autocad 2005 with any real issues. But now we are looking at Autocad 2010 how do I got about importing in those files? The old stepin and igesin commands no longer work. Thanks Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Check out this thread: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?47568-Which-Version-of-AutoCAD-can-handle-IGES You can still do the ACIS (*.sat) files under the file menu, then import. That will bring up a dialog box, and down at the bottom you can select a variety of files. There may be some third party add ons available that will let you do that but I don't know. Haven't worked with those file extensions in years. Quote
edwinprakoso Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 IGES import and export now is not included in vanilla AutoCAD. You can install them separately if you have active subscription. We miss many things from newer AutoCAD! Quote
