Missing commands

Hello people,

 

I have been reading the tutorials here and I found out that what I see in my own autocad 2008 is not the same as here.

 

For example if I do the command 'PEDIT' I can't see the option Arc.

Here the option Arc is described, I do not have this problem only with Arc option.

 

I found out that more command options are missing.

 

I use Autocad Architecture 2008.

 

So my question is, where are these missing command options, options which you can see after entering an command.

 

I'm first year student at university and study

I create a P-line. Then I click on it and type the command PEDIT.

Then there should be the option Arc.

 

Like I said before, not only with Pedit I have this problem.

 

Whenever I create a Polygon, I only get 2 options, Inscribe in circle and Circumscribe or something in circle. But there should be a third too.

Something with 'edge'. I don't see the third either....

 

 

 

Is your PICKFIRST set to "1"?

 

I'm completely new to Autocad, it's my first day using Autocad.

So could you explain what you mean by that?

It controls many of the "right-click" commands. Just type in the word PICKFIRST in the command line and it will say 0 or 1. Just make sure it says 1. Hope this will help!

there is still no option called 'Arc' when using PEDIT, there is a Spline option; but definately no arc.

With regards to the Polygon command and its options; the 'third' option you may be thinking of, is indeed the first option that appears, when it asks you to 'Specify centre of Polygon or [Edge]'

If you click tutorial, and then click basic stuff.

 

 

Anyway I think I got it,especially the 'spline' option.

Maybe it's an replacement for the arc option, both the same I think.

How do you change the scale in autocad?

like 1 : 50 and how do you change the metric system?

Because I live in Europe and I work with milimetres and centimetres.

Right now I see inch and foot.

Type in UNITS. It will bring up a box where you change it to metric or whatever style of measure that you need.

As for Edgemode in Polygon, you need to choose Edge instead of Centerpoint when prompted, (right after # of sides)
