GVR Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 A Happy new Year!!! I wonder if it's possible to change the order of Object Snap. If Object Snap (F3) is on it always picks first "Perpendicular" if thats is possible and often that is one of the last options i wants. I know i can swap with the TAB-key between the different Objectsnaps but that is every time a extra action. I hope someone has a positive answer for me. Greetings. Quote
Tiger Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 This is probably not what you want to hear either, but why not either un-tick the Perpendicular-snap or use overrides (right-click-menu or keyboard commands) to hard-code the OSnap that you want. Quote
GVR Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Thanks for the fast reply. I don't want to un-tick it, because i also use perpendicular. And using the right-click menu is also a extra action. Unfortunately Objectsnap always picks Perpendicular first if there are more snaps close together and that was irritating me very very much............ It's no big problem, i was just wondering if changing the order was possible. nestly Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 AutoCAD should snap to the closest Osnap point. Quote
GVR Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 AutoCAD should snap to the closest Osnap point. Yes, but sometime differend Osnap points are the same, or look the same. And sometimes when i think they are the same and i use Perpendicular i discover in a later state that some things are wrong. And i discovered that Osnap Perpendicular is then most of the time the fault. So i had hoped that there was a solution for it. Quote
Tiger Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) It has been asked before, about the order in which AutoCAD chooses OSnaps and as far as I know there has never been a way put forth to set a personlized preference-list- Sorry. I have END, MID and INTersection OSnaps running (its rare that they collide) and use keyboard commands (type PER for perpendicular, CEN for center unt so witer)for the rest, that's how I roll. Edited January 4, 2011 by Tiger lost a negation Quote
JPlanera Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Well you could set up LISP routines if your selection is simple. For instance, a line from CENTER to END would be LCE... etc... (DEFUN C:LCE () (command "LINE" "CENTER" PAUSE "END" PAUSE "")) Quote
GVR Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 @Tiger: Thank you for your answer. I'm not sure about what you are saying in your first sentence, but i think you mean that it is NOT possible to set a personalized order. @JPlanera: Unfortunately we use Autocad 2009 LT, so i can't use LISP. rkent Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 It is easier for me to have the F keys assigned to the different osnaps and type as needed. Sounds faster than having multiple running osnaps and then tabbing through to find the one you want. If I have some editing that benefits from running osnaps then I will set just that one for the duration and then toggle it back off. Quote

GVR Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Ah gosh dang it, yes, there was a negation missing there. Don't let it happen again..... but i will forgive you. Quote
designerstuart Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 thanks for the PER (etc) tip tiger Quote
